At Tidins Healthcare, we are committed to promoting inclusivity and diversity in our organisation and in the care sector. We believe that having a diverse and inclusive workforce is not only fair and ethical, but also beneficial for our performance, productivity, and reputation.
As part of our commitment, we comply with the UK regulatory framework for equality and diversity, which is mainly based on the Equality Act 2010. This act protects people from discrimination based on nine protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. The act also requires employers to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation, advance equality of opportunity, and foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
In addition to the Equality Act 2010, we also follow other relevant regulations and practices that aim to improve inclusivity and diversity in the workplace, such as:
The Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017, which require employers with 250 or more employees to report annually on the difference between men’s and women’s earnings within their organisation.
The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties and Public Authorities) Regulations 2017, which require public authorities to publish information on how they comply with the public sector equality duty and set equality objectives at least every four years.
The Equality Act 2010 (Commencement No. 11) Order 2016, which brought into force the ban on age discrimination in the provision of goods and services.
The Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007, which prohibit discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation in the provision of goods and services, education, and public functions.
The Equality Act (Disability) Regulations 2003, which require service providers to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people to access their services.
We report our compliance with these regulations on our website and on the relevant governmental portals. We also provide a written statement confirming that the information is accurate, signed by an appropriate senior person.
We use our inclusivity and diversity data to identify and address any issues related to equality and diversity in our organisation, such as recruitment, retention, promotion, training, and career development. We also use it to improve our performance, productivity, and reputation by attracting and retaining diverse talent, enhancing employee engagement and satisfaction, and demonstrating social responsibility.
